In bottled mineral water plant before filtration iron and manganese present in raw water is disinfected/oxidized by a chlorine/hypochlorite dosing system. This is done by dosing raw water with 3-4ppm of sodium hypochlorite solution which forms hypochlorite acid on reaction with water. hypochlorite acid is a disinfecting agent.
